Applied ethics is a test in my opinion, and it keeps going on and on during the lifetime of person. During the Ethics course I understood what applied ethics is and how it worked in our lifetime, and Moral relativism is how or what to choose between two things such as choosing between good and bad or by choosing between good and good, choosing between good and good is harder than I thought because if I chose good than the other good there will be some consequences which will make you happy and the other person will be sad or something. Moral relativism changes between cultures and other beliefs. Actually I believe either choosing good or bad or not choosing anything there will be consequences in any case from my experience. Volunteering with people with physical and psychological disabilities changed me how to view them, for example before I volunteered I used to see them with shocked eyes and I couldn’t get my eyes off them but after I volunteered it changed the way how I look at them and how I treat them, it made me look at them as they are people without physical or psychological disabilities.

While I was volunteering in the ZHO (Zayed Higher Organization) to help the people who needed special care and they also wanted someone to show them they are not different from other people. At the first day of my volunteering, I didn’t know how to communicate with the special people and I didn’t know how to help them with stuff they find it difficult, but after a few days of my volunteering I realized that they don’t need to be treated different than the normal people because when I talk to them they understand what I say and I don’t act with as they are normal. I learned a lot and I opened my eyes when I was volunteering in the Zayed Higher Organization. I have learned a lot from the Ethics course, mainly I learned to choose what is right and what is wrong, and I learned the consequences if I chose the wrong choice or opinion. I was so loved by the people their, I was like a role model for them, so I always and I mean always thought of the consequences and was non egoist man for my good and for their good.

Personal Reflective Writing #1

                                                         My Personal Experience

I will choose one of my personal experiences that I had almost 5 weeks ago. In the winter vacation me and my family went to our farm in the desert “liwa”, me and my family were having a great time together. My friend was coming to Liwa by his own and it was stupid to come to a desert by all alone but he wanted to come to see the huge dune I told him about, and he went there by himself and it was dangerous. When he went to this huge dune I told him about he called me and he said “I am going to climb this huge dune by my car, so I am going around the dune to climb it from behind.” I told him it was dangerous but he didn’t listen so he hangs up. While I am having a great time with my family, after half an hour my friend called me back and told me that he needs my help and his car couldn’t start and the tires were drowned in the sand and it was almost midnight, there was no one close to my friend but me.
Well I had two choices to make, the first choice was to stay with my family and have a great time sitting around the fire, and the second choice was to go behind the dune and help my friend. If I stayed with my family and have a great time, my friend will stay alone behind the dune at midnight and he will get mad at me, and if went there to help him and leave my family I will lose all the fun. I chose to go there and help my friend to get his car get out, and we made the car get out after a few hours of trying. I chose to help him because that is what friends do, they help each other. According to my story it is Kohlberg fourth stage, because helping a friend is a great thing for example, if I had a situation I need to fix and I told my friend about the situation, my friend will might help me.
My friend learned that going to the desert is a stupid thing and dangerous and he wasn’t that stupid but he was so excited to go to the dune. In 5 to 10 years I will still think I made the right decision and my friend will remember that I helped him getting his car out, but if I didn’t help him he will say that I didn’t help him and he will keep reminding me that I did the wrong choice. I am glad I did the right decision because now my friend always laughs about the story and he is happy about it.      (469 words)
